My Teaching Philosophy
Music is in Julie Gosswiller’s soul, and she can’t imagine life without it. For every student she encounters, she hopes to pass on her love for music and all that it invokes-magic, sorrow, joy, mystery, awe...the ineffable. Music creates that which words cannot describe or define and unifies us in profound ways.
My Students
Julie teaches students from vastly diverse backgrounds both privately and at Montana State University. Pianists in her studio are teachers, composers, and engineers; it doesn’t matter from what professional disciplines they arrive or are headed, she meets them where they are and guides them to their preferred destination.

What’s New…
MSU Piano Faculty & Students: Pianoforte
Piano students and faculty of MSU performed an original composition by Eric Funk titled “Montana, Op. 157: An Album of Twelve Tone Paintings and Trees for Two Pianos,” and other collaborative piano works by George Gershwin, Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky. Published last year, Funk’s piece featured twelve movements, each inspired by a different part of Montana. Proceeds from the concert benefited Magic 88, a new scholarship fund for MSU students interested in studying piano. The program concluded with all 14 pianists performing one number together…and a back-flip!
